I suggest you take the train/underground/bus etc. Germany has unbelievably good public transportation. Gas prices have skyrocketed to ridiculous amounts of money, ~DM 2.5/liter (1 liter ~= 0.26 gallon). Especially for sightseeing it's even better to use public transportation. You will get right to where you want to be, stroll around and get onto a different station to head to your next destination. Have a fun trip!
